Baked Chocolate Donuts

Since baked donuts tend to dry out faster than the fried kind, a quick dip in a simple glaze will lock the moisture in so they stay nice and soft. Finish up with a satiny chocolate glaze and cute sprinkles for the ultimate treat to serve your loved ones!

Chocolate Donuts (adapted from Naturally Ella )
1¾ cup flour
¼ cup cocoa powder
1 cup cane sugar
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 whole eggs
6 tablespoon butter
¼ cup milk
1 cup powdered sugar
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla


  • Preheat oven to 375˚ and spray a doughnut pan.
  • In a medium bowl, combine all dry ingredients and set aside. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and butter until mixture is slightly frothy. Stir into dry ingredients until ingredients are just combined (do not over mix.)
  • Scoop batter into plastic or piping bag. Cut a medium size tip (if using the plastic bag) and squeeze batter into doughnut pan, filling each doughnut almost to the top (leave about ⅛”.)
  • Bake for 7-9 minutes until doughnut springs back. Remove from pan and let cool slightly. Mix together the icing ingredients to a runny consistency. While still warm, dunk each donut in the glaze, coating thoroughly. Once coated, place donuts on a cooling rack with foil underneath to catch drippings. Let cool thoroughly, then add chocolate glaze and sprinkles.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze ( )
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract


  • I used the microwave, but alternatively:
  • In a double boiler over hot, but not boiling water, combine chocolate chips, butter, and corn syrup. Stir until chips are melted and mixture is smooth, then add vanilla.
