The roomie and I got out of San Diego last weekend for a much needed get-away strategically planned around eating (a lot) and shopping (a lot). The ultimate Rose Bowl Swap Meet trip turned foodie weekend.
Sunday morning we sat down for a gorgeous and delicious breakfast- organic chocolate bread with cherry jam, hot quinoa cereal with pears, and a baby animal(?) latte. Joined the crowds of crazy characters in the crazy (hot and cold) weather searching through piles of dust in search of treasures. I was on the hunt for vintage linens, crates, jars, plants, cut-off denim and potentially a gym bag. Instead, I went home with an old- but perfect condition- Dooney & Bourke bucket purse and a scrap of wood that cost $1 (to turn into a sign). After 3 1/2 hours of traipsing through the never-ending aisles in Converse we called it a day and forced our legs to not give out until we made it to the car. By this time it was actually severely (LA) cold, and we headed into Lemonade for linner where I filled up on truffle mac n’ cheese (there is a God) and cucumber-mint lemonade. A not so quick, but oh so satisfying stop for pedicures on the way home had us back in time for hot showers and relaxing before the Grammy’s started. Living for the weekend.
