Natural Remedies: DIY Honey & Lemon Face Mask

honeylemonfacemaskI’ve been super into natural remedies these days…so much so that I’ll be starting a new series of posts. It always amazes me to find such a simple solution for every problem! To kick it off let’s start with an oldie but goodie: Honey Lemon Face Mask.

This mask works wonders for acne prone skin, dark spots and uneven skin tone. Honey is a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory that absorbs impurities from the pores and softens the skin, while lemon brightens and exfoliates. Give it a couple uses to see results (although you’ll feel smooth skin immediately) and use this mask up to 2-3 times a week for young and radiant skin.

Pssst– If you’re looking to spot-treat a pimple, a dab of honey overnight will draw out the impurity and help it disappear faster. (A touch of eye drops on the spot in the morning will further help reduce redness!).

DIY Honey Lemon Mask:

  • Squeeze 1/2 a lemon into a small bowl, add 2 tbsp of honey (raw & natural is best as it has the highest level of antibacterial properties). Mix it with a spoon until it’s a liquid syrupy consistency.
  • Tie your hair back, and apply the mask all over a clean face, avoiding eye area. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and rinse off.

Stay tuned for more of my natural remedies and diy beauty tricks!

  4. Hello London.

I found this page via a search for a friend to lighten birth mark on face – see below …

Am I to understand by your suggestion for lemon that PH is key? How might / does that differ from just using apple cider vinegar? (www.bragg.com )

My best result so far may be Silver Sulfadiazine Cream – Product Info 877 272 7901 . But, I will keep searching for something more definitive….

I like your notes about San Diego and life therein, for you. As you can see by my website below, life there was way different for me!

How often can I use this mask of lemon and honey. I have dark spots due to my pregnancies and it’s being ten years that I have them.

  7. Noelle says:

About how much lemon juice should there be? I found organic lemons that are pretty big, so it made the mask a little too loose I think. Feels great though! Thanks!

Happy 2015 everyone. Just dropping in to say I’ve been using honey (raw/organic) as an acne fighter for several months (2-3 times a week, 20-30 min) and it’s the best, BEST treatment for acne! I no longer use my go-to Benzoyle Peroxide face wash (which is all I used, a face wash).

Today I just started incorporating the lemon juice for dark spots so we’ll see. The vit C can’t hurt!

    Thanks for the post!
