I’ll be the first to admit it…I used to be
a little supplement crazy. I loved learning about the benefits of different supplements (still do) and had amassed quite the Chris Traeger sized pill collection. And then one day I got fed up with my grandma-sized pill case. I started to dread the handful of pills that faced me morning, afternoon and night and felt defeated when I forgot to take them. I needed to simplify and get back to the bare essentials.
That’s when I found Realfoodology’s timely posts on vitamin toxicity and juicing as a daily multivitamin. I loved the idea of a daily green juice (I’d already been juicing but not regularly) and the additional supplements she recommended were on sale at Sprouts. It was just meant to be! I gave away my supplements and started fresh.
I absolutely love this new daily green juice + supplement regimen. It’s easy to stick with and I actually feel way better than I did when taking handfuls of supplements. Every body is different, but this is what works for me!
- Daily Green Juice– I drink a fresh green juice a day as my daily multivitamin. The fresher the better, but I often juice 2-3 days worth in a sitting to save time during the week. Green juice is loaded with vitamins, provides energy, and makes skin glow! Make sure to drink juice on an empty stomach to properly absorb nutrients (I drink in the morning or as a snack between meals) and use all organic vegetables (I know it’s expensive, but your body is worth it!). FoodBabe has a great article on common juicing mistakes here.
- Carlson Lightly Lemon Cod Liver Oil– This stuff is a proclaimed cure-all and is loaded with Vitamins A, D, E and Omega-3’s. I’ve been taking it for almost a year now and it’s done wonders to clear up my face. I like this brand because the lemon prevents “fish burps” and makes it easier to swallow.
- Garden of Life Vitamin Code RAW D3– I love this brand because the supplements are as clean as they come and additive free. Vitamin D has major cancer fighting benefits and improves your mood like nothing else. I take 2,000IU in the summer and plan to up it to 5,000IU come winter.
- Garden of Life Vitamin Code RAW B-Complex– After a ride on the Vitamin B deficiency train I’m never going back. Especially important to supplement for vegetarians and light meat eaters, Vitamin B helps decrease anxiety and improve mood and energy. It’s the ultimate women’s vitamin.

Inner-eco Coconut Water Probiotic Kefir– Maintaining a healthy gut is the best thing you can do for yourself! (Read here for more). Probiotics are healthy bacteria that offer increased immune protection, improved digestion, and have a major impact on over-all health. I add a serving (original flavor) into my daily green juice and can’t even taste it.
Hope this helps some of you who are looking for a good vita-meata-vegimen regimen. 😉 For tons of great resources and inspiration, visit Courtney at Realfoodology!
