Lip scrubs have always seemed like a fun treat but ultimately unnecessary. Then I experienced the chappedest of chapped lips last week and realized why lip scrubs are a thing. I’m talkin’ peeling, chapped lips with corners so dry that they’re cracked seemingly beyond repair. No amount of lip balm was going to fix this.
Like most good natural scrubs (see my coconut coffee body scrub) this one uses sugar as the exfoliant and coconut oil to moisturize and repair. I also added a dash of cinnamon to stimulate blood flow (did you know that cinnamon is an active ingredient in most lip plumping glosses?) This mixture has such a delicious, familiar smell and tastes amaaaaazing. After a dribble of sugary coconut oil melted into my mouth I had an epiphany: this is french toast.
Trust me, you do not want to miss out on french toast flavored lip scrub. Do those winter lips a favor and scrub your way to smoother smile with this easy DIY french toast lip scrub.
French Toast Lip Scrub
Brown or white sugar
Extra virgin coconut oil, not melted
Dash of cinnamon
- In a small bowl or ramekin add one part coconut oil and one part sugar. Add a dash of cinnamon.
- Using a spoon or your fingers mix gently until just combined. Do not to over-mix or the sugar will dissolve into the oil.
- Add scrub to an air-tight container and store in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Tip: remove from fridge five minutes before use so that the scrub softens a bit.
