Briogeo Hair Review

briogeo-hair-review

A while back I sent an SOS into beauty land in need of an affordable yet effective shampoo and conditioner that is sulfate, silicone, and paraben free. It’s so difficult to find a hair line that is all three these days, as most are free of one or the other, but not all of the above. (And it gets to be even more confusing when companies market their products as “natural” when they’re really anything but). Well, the awesome people at Briogeo heard my cry for help and sent over some of their good good for me to try out. Spoiler alert: the hunt is over!

Briogeo‘s mission is to “create hair that is vibrant and full of life through the earth’s very own ingredients”, and they incorporate all kinds of miracle ingredients like avocado, argan oil, almond oil, biotin, keratin protein, rose hip oil, and vitamins B5, D, A, and E to nourish and repair locks naturally. After just one shower my hair was transformed from dull and greasy (and also sandy, salty and parched from a day at the beach!) to silky, shiny and full of body. Like, enough body for me to just let it air dry and have it look like I actually styled it. My hair seemed to dry faster than normal too, which is awesome because nothing annoys me more than wet hair dripping down my back.

Be Gentle, Be Kind is a rich-lather shampoo that cleanses gently but effectively. Often with sulfate-free shampoos I find that the product doesn’t actually cleanse well or fully wash out. I was surprised at how great Be Gentle, Be Kind lathered and then easily washed out, leaving fresh & clean locks with no product build up. The shampoo starts with a flowery scent, then somehow turns slightly coconutty as it starts to lather. Delicious!

The Blossom & Bloom Conditioner is what really sealed the deal for me with its citrusy scent and lightweight yet totally moisturizing formula that left my hair thicker without weighing it down. (If this tells you anything, I haven’t even tried Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask yet because I love what just the shampoo and conditioner have done to my hair on their own! You can read Refinery29’s review of it here though).

Not only is the scent intoxicating while in the shower, but my hair stays smelling flowery fresh long after. It’s become hard to refrain from compulsively sniffing my hair because it just smells too good! All of that plus cute branding and sustainable packaging? Where have you been all my life Briogeo?! I owe a big huge thank you for saving my hair with a line that’s (finally!) both natural and effective.

Do your hair a favor and try out Briogeo for yourself!

Disclaimer: I did receive samples from Briogeo, though I was not compensated for this post and all opinions are my own. I just love the product!
