Back to reality after a super fun little weekend getaway in Scottsdale! Most of my time was spent with the Bloguettes and some truly awesome girls (recap to come!), but I did make sure to fit in a little sightseeing, relaxing, and lots of good eating.
After hopping in my first ever rental car while famished to the point of dizziness, my first stop was Arcadia Farms for a filling breakfast. I got comfortable on the quiet, shady patio and scarfed down an asparagus scramble, polished off with (complimentary and amazing) fresh strawberry scones and iced coffee.
After breakfast it was time to hit the Desert Botanical Garden for some desert flora action. The garden is a great place to soak in some scenery and get in a mini workout without going for a legit hike (waaay too hot for that!). There were all kinds of cacti, succulents, wildflowers, and quite the characters there. (Definitely heard some interesting pronounciations of “quinoa” going on).
After a few hours of sun and frequent pool dips, I was so ready for happy hour! Refreshing peach ale and a rock shrimp + avocado cocktail followed by crab cakes at The Daily Dose hit the spot. Patio misters are the bessssst. There’s some Old Town westerny shops right around there which are cool if you’re feeling touristy, but I wasn’t. After a little more exploring I ended up at Trader Joe’s stocking up on water and….coconut milk chocolate ice cream(!) to take back to the hotel, where I ended the day lounging outside and actually reading (Everything Is Perfect When You’re a Liar, funny stuff).
My next notable meal was dinner the next day at The Herb Box. I ordered an ultra refreshing Cucumber Basil Mojito (note: must recreate) and hung out on the patio again. Theme of the weekend: patio chillin’. I was enjoying my cocktail and the smooth R&B and Snapchat conversations when all of the sudden my beautiful orange glazed, pistachio crumbled salmon on top of cauliflower puree arrived. And it was so good.
Right down the street from there is Super Chunk Sweets & Treats, where I picked up some gourmet caramels (like Blue Cheese & Fig!) and taffy for sweet little gifts. They had some awesome ice cream flavors too, but I somehow refrained.
The next morning I hit up Kaleidescope Juice for a green juice, then met a new friend for coffee at Cartel Coffee Lab. Iced cold-brew, of course. And just like that, after a full day of fun at the workshop, it was time to say goodbye and head home! Weekend getaway success.
Know of any yummy Scottsdale spots I missed?!
