My new summer go-to “dessert” and possibly the best smoothie I’ve ever concocted on the spot. Not quite ice cream, pudding or milkshake, I couldn’t figure out what the heck this thick, decadent smoothie reminded me of. Then it hit me- BROWNIE BATTER. But frozen. And full of only healthiness! Mmmmmm.
Kicking back with this + a fresh shower after a sweaty/sticky day at the beach = heaven. Since I’m not a napper (they make me so anxious) this was a perfect little afternoon pick-me-up to sip while relaxing, and the spirulina and maca gave me a subtle boost of energy to get through the rest of the day!
Vegan Brownie Batter Smoothie
1 small banana
1/2 cup frozen cherries
2 dates, pitted
3/4 cup almond milk (adjust for desired consistency)
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 tablespoon maca
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 tsp spirulina
Sprinkle of cinnamon, sprinkle of turmeric (optional)
Add all ingredients to blender, and blend! Add more almond milk as necessary to reach desired consistency (but the thicker the better). Don’t forget to top with some cocoa nibs!
