Asheejojo’s Modern Fiesta

Happy Birthday Asheejojo!

This past Monday was seriously epic. In honor of Ashleigh, the long holiday weekend and symbolic end of summer, I helped Kelli (the hostess with the mostess!) plan a birthday fiesta beach day. Party planning is so much fun! I swear going to bed the night before felt like Christmas Eve, and I woke up early on Monday morning filled with way too much excitement to sleep in.

Given the notes to work with- Mexican blankets, margaritas, watermelons, balloons, succulents, paletas, sangria and a pinata, we tried to pull it all together for a bright and fun atmosphere that covered all of the birthday girl’s desires. I think it worked, because we all seemed to be overdosing on happy vibes (and sugar). See below for all of the little details that made this fiesta such a blast!

We kicked off the day with OH! Juice Surfboard (watermelon, jalepeno, lime) margaritas and fresh ceviche as the crew began to assemble. The usual blogger suspects, plus my dear friend Ellie who was in town and able to spend the with us! Please note Kelli’s tequila soaked watermelon skewers.

With inflatable animal friends and GoPro in tow, we headed down to the beach for a few hours of sandy, salty fun. The water was perfectly refreshing and you wouldn’t believe how fun it is to get whipped around on the turtle.

Back at the house, Kelli set up a taco bar accompanied by colorful Jarrito’s, black beans and Fit Andy‘s watermelon salad.

Then it was mustache and pinata time!

Next up came my homemade paletas. Cantelope and Roasted Strawberry Balsamic….recipes to come!

And as the sun began to set we gathered back on the patio to enjoy the gorgeous view and a roaring fire.

Drinking, dancing, and straight goofing around….it was a solid day. Hope the extensive play-by-play got you inspired and excited for your next party! Do you have any celebrations coming up?!

This is the most adorable party ever! Can I hop into your life, please? :) San Diego looks gorgeous… Do you enjoy living there? My boyfriend and I are visiting a few California cities as potential places to live next year, and now your pictures have gotten San Diego on my mind! I live in Miami now, so I love the outdoorsy, beach life, but I want to live in a place where people are more relaxed and friendly!

    • Hi Caylee! Ahhh I love your blog, the name is so cute too! It definitely sounds like San Diego would be a good fit for you 😉 North county SD is especially laid back, but super active too. Let me know if you make it out here, we can meet up for coffee or something :)
