Pure Encapsulations


I may not be a vision of health these days. In fact, it’s a joke how far from it I’ve become. 91 needles, 5 doctors appointments, 1 cortisone shot, and countless creams later….and I’m still figuring out what is going on.
While my body is freaking out, I’m trying my best to get to the root of the issue by eating healthy and supporting with supplements to at least avoid any nutrient deficiencies. That’s where Pure Encapsulations comes in.
Pure Encapsulations is a premium brand which prides itself for using only the best, top ingredients. Unlike many vitamins, the line is gluten-free and doesn’t contain eggs, preservatives, hydrogenated oils, added coatings, binders, shellacs, artificial flavors and sweeteners, colors or fragrances. This couldn’t be more important while my body is in this (annoying) hypo-allergic state.
These hypoallergenic supplements have become a part of my daily ritual, along with less caffeine (eeeep), colder showers, hypoallergenic bedding, and (unfortunately still) lots of antihistamines. While this is just my personal routine– and you should consult your health care provider before starting any new regimen!– I wanted to share my current line-up.


Magnesium is great for promoting relaxation and detoxification. I’m taking Magnesium Glycine to help regulate acid-alkaline balance…important for eczema and high blood-histamine levels!
Restless nights have become the norm these days. The Pure Encapsulations Best Rest Forumla helps me out here– it supports healthy sleep cycles by encouraging an easy transition to sleep and a restful night’s sleep. It contains the time-tested support of valerian, passionflower, chamomile, lemon balm and hops, which act to calm and relax the central nervous system, plus the well-known melatonin to facilitate the onset of sleep and sleep efficiency.


Along with traditional supplements, I’ve been adding drops of liquid vitamins into my water and tea. It’s an easy way to “remember” to take them, and arguably gets absorbed better. B12 and Vitamin D3 are my favorites for supporting mental and emotional well–being and boosting the immune system.

Week Notes: October 11th


Haaaaiiii. I’m back…I think! Let’s just jump back into it?


Started out the week with a rainy trip up to LA…train hopping and soft pretzel gorging. Shaking out long week days with popsicle run bike rides to the liquor store and soft warm breezes.


Heavy wine pours + arugula pizza with the laaaadies. Lazy Friday beer + poke bowls.


Iced coffee and couch hangs in front of the fan. A gorgeous barefoot team dinner on the beach followed by a quick drive up to LA. PLUSH HOTEL BEDS. A heart-warming (and warm) day in support of eczema.


Beachy Cream Roasted Strawberry Balsamic + Mint Brownie ice cream before another car ride back south.


Moments of relaxation in front of American Horror Story. Topping it all off with poke bowls and a Sunday sunset on Vulcan.



Life is good these days. Busy, but good.

Week Notes: August 30th

better buzz encinitas

After a weekend full of shenanigans + celebrations, I woke up at Kendall’s and started the week with “The Best Drink Ever” at the new Better Buzz Encinitas before heading to work already smiling.

And then because I didn’t see enough of her the past few days, Ash and I went to Kendall’s for what ended up being a five-course Kendanimall-made dinner of fresh tomatoes, grilled veggies, and…sausage.


Though the mid-week is kind of blending together, Tuesday + Thursday were photoshoot days for one of our newest, exciting, yet-to-be-announced clients– eeep!– and Wednesday we went out to try a new (to us) sushi place– Blue Ocean. The sashimi and well, everything was soooo fresh and good.


Thursday evening just might have been the highlight this week (if it wasn’t for you, know, Taylor Swift). I ran over to Kendall’s after work and a group of us headed out to surf at sunset. It was so fun and warm and gorgeous out I wanted to stay in that moment forever. No pics were taken, which makes the memory even sweeter.IMG_9934

And then….TAYLOR SWIFT. We kicked off the day at Avery’s Taylor Swift-themed morning ride at The Rush, and even though my legs were fully jello the rest of the day they still powered through hours of dancing. Kelli and I grabbed happy hour at The Hake La Jolla while scheming ways to get backstage (ie: DM’ing Vance Joy) and then headed down to Petco Park. There was just no containing my excitement, and really no way to accurately describe how much fun it was. Thank you Kelli!


Come Sunday, I was still wired from the concert but my body felt like it was hit by a bus. Ash + I kept it mellow (and weird) with a lazy day that ended in a search for root beer floats (turned full on dinner) and snugglin’ up at our favorite house to watch the VMAs.

Note that this post is coming a week late, but….here’s to potentially gettin’ back into the blog thing?

Or a month.


Keeping up on life (let alone the blog) has been a struggle lately. Bouncing from stressful, long, frustrating days into hilarious, happy adventures with friends. Going from one extreme to the next, but feeling like I’m being sucked dry (of energy, creativity, kindness, personality). I’ve been going through the motions, not living with intention– or even stopping to just think and feel. Ignoring my personal needs to just make it through the day and meet the expectations of work and friends.

So currently hitting R E S E T. But thought I would stop to say hey, what’s up, hello in the meantime. More to come soon, I praawwmise.

Summer List


Now that summer is in full swing (although the weather hasn’t quite gotten the memo yet) I thought I’d share a list of some goals and to-do’s for the next few months. There’s a lot going on lately, and I don’t want my favorite season to fly by without stepping back and truly savoring it. So here we go. Now the only thing missing is adult summer break. (Someone make that happen, please?).

Truck bed picnic at sunset. Gather friends and blankets, park on Vulcan and take in the sunset.

Weekly bike rides. Which also leads me to…

Explore more Cardiff alleys + side streets. On foot, on bike, while catching up with friends, while decompressing with iced tea on warm evenings.

Mini road trip/extended weekend trip. San Fran, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara….anywhere plz.

Host a patio party. My new fence is in the works and the patio space is making progress. The real goal here is to get the patio into shape…and then throw a party (because, duh).

Finish up books. I got stacks on stacks. Of books. So many good ones half-started or unopened. Prioritizing reading is a major goal this summer.

Clear and cleanse the studio. While I’m making it through little by little, I need to do a once-and-for-all overhaul, a deep cleaning, and some rearranging.

Hit the swap meets and flea markets. It’s been a while and I’m on the hunt for treasures and project supplies. (Ps- If anyone knows where to buy a cheap ukelele, let me know!).

Palm/aura reading. Recommendations?

Play tennis. And actually learn the rules.

Crafts and projects. Make a point to get creative and just make stuff.

Write more. Journaling, blogging, happy notes and snail mail.

I think that’ll just about cover it. Haaaaay #SUMMER2015.
